Castleton Christmas Light Walk - November 16th

Posted 16/11/2019

A good day out in Castleton for our group for the Christmas light switch on, in surprisingly dry and calm conditions.

Commencing from the village centre a quite steep ascent awaited the beginning of the walk on Cow Low on some dubiously marked and trodden footpaths.

Reaching Rowter Farm we picked up the Limestone Way, which we followed back to Castleton via Cave Dale.

The path through Cave Dale can often be challenging due to the paths steepness and the rocky conditions underfoot. Today was no exception the path was a running steam of water following the recent torrential rains.

Our party remained safe and emerged into Castleton which was in full swing of preparation for the Christmas light switch on later that day.

The switch on and parade from Father Christmas is a popular event in the village and a great spectacle, this year was no exception.

Following the switch on we went our separate ways and took the steady journey home.

Well done to the party of fourteen adults and two children who completed this slightly challenging 4 mile route.

Hope you all had a great day.
