Don Gorge Walk - December 29th

Posted 29/12/2020

After lots of demand for today’s Don Gorge walk, DVWG had put arrangements in place for a split start to this morning’s walk with people who were occupying the reserve list starting the walk 30 minutes after the main group.

Overnight snow led to many people not wishing to journey to Consibrough therefore our party was somewhat depleted, this coupled by the split start giving way to a little confusion all led to a delayed start to this morning’s walk while we assembled ready to start.

Our party of eleven crossed the railway onto the TPT, walking up the hill onto Conisbrough Viaduct and onwards through the woods onto a vantage point across the Don Gorge above the quarry. Both of points giving fantastic views.

We walked back down into Conisbrough around Mill Piece and back alongside the River Don to the end of our walk.

Despite the overnight snow and the mud, the weather was quite sunny, yet crisp, giving us ideal weather for some great views.

Well done to everyone who came along today to our final walk of 2020.
